No analysis options
Hello,
I signed up to SMEasure today and entered some weekly gas readings.
Unfortunately, I can't see any analysis options, either in IE8, or
in Google Chrome. Any ideas? Do you have a User Guide on the
site?

Hi David,
Apologies for the 'out of office' reply. One of the support team is away at the moment.
SMEasure determines weekly consumption by calculating the difference between one reading and the previous. Normally, if you enter a reading older than the ones you've already entered (such as when you enter a batch, starting with the most recent), SMEasure will recalculate consumptions for all of the more recent readings. We've recently had to temporarily disable this, because of problems arising with users with very many readings. For now the workaround is either to enter your readings chronologically (oldest first), or, after you've entered a batch of readings, to re-save each in turn starting with the oldest. I've done this for the six or so readings you entered, so you should now see some analysis.

I too am experiencing a lack of analysis output, receiving the message that I need to input building type and floor area - but this has been done. Can you help?

I'm receiving the same error as ben too. I've entered 9 weeks of readings in chronological order but to no avail.

Hi Jamie,
I have identified the problem and am working on a solution. It is a problem with the building type you have selected for each building. If you like, change the building type to try and resolve, however this is not ideal. I will notify you when I have rectified the problem on our end so you can use this building type.
Ben: Your rating is now functioning as expected. Perhaps you already changed the weather station?

Hi Cam,
I get degree days now (from the different weather station) but still no ratings with Industrial Buildings I'm afraid. I think it works as office buildings.

Is there another building category that you could use appropriately? We are having some issues with data quality for these building categories. Can you please advise if you can change the building category.

Hi Cam,
I've changed it to be local authority buildings, depot which I'm guessing is similar ish, but without knowing what assumptions are made on the composition of these in relation to industrial buildings I can't comment on the difference in the profile for the buildings.
Industrial buildings strikes me as the most appropriate type for an arts company working in barns and workshops in an agricultural setting, and a large portion of potential users of this site?

Further to the above, the issue with industrial buildings is they are presumed to have heavy electricity loads due to 'process energy' which are then difficult to benchmark. SMEasure is best for heating analysis because of the weather aspect. Industrial buildings have very different heating loads because their process energy supplies a lot of the necessary heating.
If you don't have large process energy then your suggestion is probably best although you would need to know the benchmarks of all buildings to make a better informed decision. We could upload this information if it would help.

Thanks for the advice - whilst we are still fairly electricity intensive we still have a massive heating requirement that is only satisfied by a gas heating system. I'll change our factories over to Local Authority/Depots for now and see how we do in the next few weeks - I can always alter it if necessary.
If you could upload the benchmarks it could be very useful in finding a suitable alternative.

I am sorry, I was reassigned to other tasks and this slipped my mind. I have attached the benchmark guide (see pages 222 onwards for the actual data). SMEasure uses Typical practice in it's benchmarks and Good practice for the money spend / overspend amounts. You can correlate these categories with the building categories under the Building edit screen on SMEasure.
