S/measure estimated over/underspend.
How is this calculated? What does it mean? I see building data may be added for Kw/Hr costs from an energy supplier but I see nowhere to perhaps enter annual d/d payments which might make sense of this calculation. Additionally there appears to be nowhere

Hi Roger,
These FAQs explain how costs and over/underspend are calculated.

Spend shown in sMeasure is an indication only. If you add your own tariffs to the system the overspend and underspend will be accurate as they are based on a difference in consumption regardless of standing charges. You will need to add standing charges to annual spend figures shown in sMeasure to get an indication of real annual spend.
Best wishes,
Alex

Alex,
Our tariff rates are much higher than than the ones you are using as
defaults.
Can I put these into your model?
Electricity at 11.04p against yours of 7p and gas at an average of 4.83p
against yours of 2.5p
Regards,
Cyril.

Hi Cyril,
Yes you can (and indeed should) enter your own tariffs. Go to the "Buildings" tab and click edit, this takes you to the set up page where you can add tariffs. Don't forget to click update when you have entered the new values!
If you have more than one building and want to set tariffs for all buildings in one go then go to the "Business" tab and click edit at the top of the page.
Best wishes,
Alex

Alex,
Thanks for this guidance.
I have entered the electricity tariff, excluding VAT. Is that right?
I have a recent gas statement, but cannot work out how to determine the
tariff in kwh which is what your screen input requires. I have attached a
scan of the statement in the hope that you can help.
Regards,
Cyril.

Hi Cyril,
The box to look at is the "Charges this period" on the back of the statement.
There is added complexity as your tariff changed during the time the bill covers (the tariff went up on the 01/05/2011 as you can see.
Your tariff a higher rate for a certain amount of use and then a lower rate after that. Because of this you need to take an average. The weighted average for the new tariff is 4.833 pence per kWh which is the value you should enter into sMeasure.
As I said previously as sMeasure takes a simple tariff and applies it to all consumption the figures given in sMeasure will be an indication and probably won't agree with your bills to high accuracy.
The value of sMeasure as a tool is in monitoring energy use accurately at the source and not needing to wait for bills to arrive for you to realise if your consumption has increased.
I hope that is all okay.
Best wishes,
Alex
