What are the account type options in sMeasure?

All the accounts we offer give you the ability to monitor more than one building. The difference between the accounts is around the number of users and options for sharing building energy data between users.

We offer three account types

Type 1 – Single User Account
is designed for a business with one or more buildings being managed by one person, who is the account owner. He or she can invite ‘guest users’ to view the building(s) results.

Type 2 - Multi-user Account for a Business
The account has an ‘owner’ who can invite people to be ‘building managers’ users who have the access to update assigned buildings and also the owner can invite ‘guest users’ to view the building(s) results. Building managers and guests can have access to more than one building. This account is good if you are a business with buildings geographically spread and/or a franchise business so need or want to decentralise energy management and reporting.

Type 3 - Multi-user Account for a Business Community
The account has an ‘owner’ who is likely to be the person for responsible for co-ordinating the effort. In the account multiple businesses can be set-up and within each business multiple buildings can be managed. The building manager and guest users options are the same as described in Type 2. This account is great if your business is participating in an initiative for joint energy management and data sharing between businesses is desired.

User roles in Account Type 2 and 3
Owner – this user will set-up the account and control invitations into the account.
Building manager – invited by the ‘owner’ to edit and update assigned buildings. Will be able to see non-assigned buildings if given access by the ‘owner’.
Guest – invited by the ‘owner’ to view a building(s) but will only have access to the building results and will not be able to edit or export data.

A beneficial feature of sMeasure is that the account ‘owner’ (and building managers given full data access) will see the ranking of best to least energy performing buildings if monitoring more than one building. This will help businesses target investment and improvement measures.

Data sharing and reporting

We are working with a number of government and voluntary initiatives to improve knowledge of building energy use and reduction planning within a network of businesses. These networks are geographic and/or interest based. If you are interested to know more about how sMeasure might support a programme you are involved please contact info@smeasure.org.uk to learn more.
