UN adds 21 sites to world heritage list
The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) met last week in Brasilia and announced the addition of 21 new locations to the list of world sites. The sites represent a broad range of natural beauty, biodiversity and cultural significance. They include the Central Highlands in Sri Lanka, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area near the Great Rift Valley in Tanzania and an 18th century astronomical observation site in Jaipur, India.

UK businesses not ready for climate change
A survey carried out for DEFRA (Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) showed that whilst three quarters of businesses were concerned about climate change and a third had already been affected by severe weather, only a quarter had started adaptation plans. Read more.
